UNIVERSITY SUICIDE AWARENESS & PREVENTION (USAP)
The goals of USAP include:
* educating students about the risk factors, warning signs, and protective factors associated with suicide,
* making suicide a more talked about topic on a college campus,
* creating a comfortable environment for students to talk about suicide and suicide risk,
* provide resources for students struggling with suicide
USAP was created in Fall of 2012 by a freshman student, Sydny Spires, at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Sydny was inspired to create USAP by a freshman seminar she participated in, Psychology of Suicide. After learning how few programs the U had to offer regarding suicide prevention, she decided to create USAP in hopes of spreading suicide awareness at the University of Minnesota.

USAP is officially recognized as a Registered Student Organization by Student Unions and Activities at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
